What is the Maya Matrix?
Maya is an Eastern term meaning "the illusion of reality." The word "Matrix" refers to the complex system of living inside that illusion that we call life. The phrase the Maya Matrix means reality as we know it, which is a perception of life, not life itself. The Maya Matrix is the lens that makes it seem complex, unfair and limited. The illusion is that there isn't enough and that we are separate from life.
The ego is not your real identity. The Maya Matrix uses that lens to make it seem as though you are smaller than you really are. The Maya Matrix makes you forget the answer to the most fundamental questions... Who am I? What is reality?
If the ego defines you, it would say things like: I am a woman, I am a man, I am a kind man, I am old, I am fat, etc. A simple phrase, "I Am" by itself, does not mean anything to the ego. "I Am" is too big for the ego. To find the truth about yourself and reality, we must go beyond the Maya Matrix. We must transcend.
NOT transcending the Matrix limits us and causes unfulfilled potential which causes suffering. Our Being (I Am) holds our greatest potential and sees, in every moment, unlimited possibilities to fulfill this potential. In it, we find guidance, shelter, peace and the greatest qualities of life. What would happen if we each knew how to live our potential despite our circumstances?
